Estate

The estate owned by Sabine and Fred Prinz is located in the Rheingau commune of Hallgarten. Fred Prinz made a name for himself as Germany’s greatest “garage” winemaker, while maintaining his day job as the enologist at the Rheingau's largest estate, Kloster Eberbach. Mr. Prinz is now devoting his efforts full time to his own estate, having increased his vineyard ownership from 1.5 to 6.5 hectares with holdings in the Hallgarten sites of Hendelberg, Jungfer and Schönhell. 89% of the vineyards are planted to Riesling, 7% devoted to Pinot Noir and the remaining 4% to other varietals. White wines undergo slow, cool fermentation, and are matured in stainless steel tanks. The estate is a member of the Germany’s elite VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikats-und Qualitätsweingüter) association.
